Rosemary Essential Oil and Monday Mornings!

Ah the aroma of Rosemary! What a pleasant scent it has, while we cook our roasts and sauces. I knew Grandma’s Sunday dinner was going to be amazing when I was a kid.  As an adult, I learned to use rosemary in many different things. Now that I use essential oils, I’ve discovered new ways to incorporate the health benefits of Rosemary, without having to cook a meal.

I have learned about so many of the great benefits that essential oils can have on your life.  I have seen the personal benefits in my own everyday life.

Now, again I want to stress, essential oils cannot cure illness, or should not replace medication prescribed by your doctor.  The FDA has not approved any statements of how essential oils can work for you.  These are all my own personal experiences with the oils, and of those I know who use essential oils in their daily life.  With all that said, let’s get back to talking about Rosemary essential oil.

Monday mornings, are always my sluggish day.  It just seems so difficult to wake up on Monday morning.  I personally grab my cup of coffee and sit at my desk to begin my day.  Surprisingly coffee is not the “wake up” magic I had hoped it would be.  Oh I love the taste of my coffee in the morning, but my morning blast comes from Rosemary essential oil.

Yes you heard that correctly.  Diffusing Rosemary oil, gives me a much better “bang” in the morning, then any coffee or caffeinated beverage.  Caffeine we all know is not good for us. If we can find better ways to “wake up” in the morning, that would be so much better for our overall heath.

Rosemary has been shown to have properties that help with healthy digestion, respiratory functions, and helps to reduce nervous tension and fatigue.

I use Rosemary in my diffuser.  I add just a few drops of  oil to the water and  turn the diffuser on. The scent of Rosemary covers my office. Add a little sunshine to the mix and suddenly, I feel like I can make it through the day! Since Rosemary has been known to relive tension too, my work day goes by so much smoother.

I really recommend you start diffusing that Rosemary.  If you don’t know where to get Rosemary essential oil, let me know, I can help you with that.  If you want it for the whole sale price, I can help you with that too!  Any diffuser can work, just pick one that you like and start diffusing today!

After you try the Rosemary, let me know on my Facebook page or here on my blog, what you like about Rosemary essential oil.

Do you Diffuse?

Public service announcement before I continue, I want to express, diffusing oil should not be used as a substitute for seeing a medical professional.  The FDA has not approved essential oils for the treatment of illness or intended to be cure.   Always consult your medical professional.

We now bring you back to your regular blog reading:

When I first started with essential oils, I like many others had no idea how to use them.  I have since learned you can use them topically; putting it on your skin alone or with a carrier oil. You can ingest it by adding it to water, food or in caplets. You can clean your house along with diffusing the oils in your home, office and even your classroom.

Diffusing oil is  simply adding  just a few drops of oil to water.  The diffuser can run for a few hours or at different intervals throughout the day,  depending on your unit and its settings. Diffuser can be purchased from just about any where and there are many to choose from.

I recommend diffusing for several reasons.  Diffusing is a mood lifter that allows everyone who enters the room to be uplifted too.  Diffusing allows for a scent of your choice to bring you peace and calm.

If you have a cold or illness, you can diffuse oils that aid in healing your conditions.   We’ve all had colds, headaches, flu and a multitude of other virus.  Many of which a doctor cannot even give you medicine for.  In the Dr.’s words “it just has to run its course.”  In some cases you can or will get an antibiotic.  Regardless if you were prescribed medication or not, you can continue to diffuse to help ease your discomfort.

Essential oils have been used for centuries because of the potential healing properties.   When you have a cold or cough, the top ten essential oils you can diffuse are: Eucalyptus, Lemon, Frankincense Lavender, Peppermint, Tea Tree, Oregano or Thieves. Diffuse at night while you are resting, and throughout the day.

Research has shown that pleasant scents can bring back happy memories, therefore lessening your sad feelings or depression.  During these cold, drab, days of January, you can be diffusing, Lemon, Orange, Bergamot, Clary Sage, Roman Chamomile, or Ylang Ylang, and these are just to name a few.  Think about the feeling you get when you smell a flower?  Or how about when you make homemade muffins or cookies?  That’s what diffusing can do for you too!

Diffusing oils also gives you the option to mix up the blends that best fits your needs for that moment in time.  If you’re working out at home or the gym there are some great oils to enhance your workout. Some of the best oils to use before and after your work out can be Lemon, Peppermint, Lavender, Copaiba and Purification Blends.  I myself, diffuse peppermint on my way to “Curves”, to help give me that added energy boost to complete my workout. Of course after the workout, on my way home, I diffuse peppermint so that I keep that energy boost going!

Diffusing has endless possibilities.  If you like to sit in a steam room after your workout, put some Eucalyptus oil in your hands and inhale from your hands while the steam surrounds and cleanses you.

Sadly when I started writing this, my diffuser was not working.  However, the new one has arrived and I’m enjoying the benefits of diffusing while I sleep.  I also diffuse in my office while working.  I’m diffusing oregano currently, the room smells so good.  Why oregano you ask, well that’s a blog for another day.

Essential oils have so many benefits, I love learning new ways and recipe’s to try every day.  What do you like to diffuse?

Essential Oils

Hey folks, sorry it’s been so long since my last blog.  Time just got away from me.

As you know, I started out with Lavender as my first essential oil. Lavender has helped me in many ways, starting with helping me to sleep, healing bruising, and even minor burns from cooking!

Later, I was gifted with doTERRA’s On Guard protective blend product.  This has many great uses, but really helped me tackle the ticks while living in a heavily wooded area.  My Pups were getting them daily. Whenever I applied On Guard to their legs and pads of their feet, the ticks were no longer a problem.

Finally, I took the plunge into purchasing the Family Physician® Kit.   This kit contained a collection of ten nurturing essential oils, including six single oils and four blends. The kit had: Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Melaleuca, Oregano, Frankincense, Deep Blue®, Breathe, DigestZen®, and On Guard.

At the same time I received the Family kit, I was presented with so many essential oil recipes to aid in my all over health that I became a true believer in the oils.

I started washing my clothes in the On Guard Laundry detergent.  Now I don’t have that sweet flowery smell anymore.  You know the one that surely means it clean.  No, my clothes just smell clean. I no longer use fabric softener either. That is a blog for another time.

My clothes will last longer without all the man-made chemicals, after all I put them through enough stress. Mind you, it was not easy to switch to Essential oils for laundry, I was very true to my name brand for almost as long as I have been married.

After some calculations, it’s not cheaper to use essential oils, and if you compare 60 loads to 60 loads, it does cost a little more.  However, let’s think about this for a minute. Chemicals are harsh on materials.  So in the long run, my clothes, in theory should last longer. I truly believe they will.

Essential oils can be pricey.  I was recently told by someone they couldn’t purchase doTerra from me, since they could purchase essential oils at the store, for way cheaper.  Look, I agree, you can buy the oils from health stores, grocery stores, discount stores, even Amazon.  Keep in mind, you don’t know what you may be getting.  Can you ensure these oils are 100% pure?

I have seen that you can purchase doTERRA oils through Amazon.  Let me tell you where those come from.  Those same oils are from some people who sell doTERRA.  These sellers are selling their earned product they get for free! (doTERRA frowns upon seller who sell through Amazon.) What did I just say? You can get free oils? Yes, that’s another day’s blog.  There may even be some sellers who are masking their product under the doTERRA name, but it’s not really doTERRA.  Buyer beware as they say.

All I’m saying here, is do your homework.  Essential oils are fabulous.  My next blog will share how you can diffuse oils everyday.

If you’re interested in learning more about doTERRA, give me a call.  I will be happy to share the benefits I have found in doTERRA essential oils.

Yes! There’s an Oil For That…….

I love this picture.  You know why?  I’m finding there really is an essential oil for everything I have looked up so far.

My introduction to essential oils, was through the use of lavender.  I was talking with one of the ladies who uses essential oils, when I expressed my trouble with falling asleep.  She told me, I should try lavender oil. Lavender is calming and will help me relax. She even gave me a sample pack to try. So, that evening I did.

You can apply lavender in many different ways. You can splash a little on your pillow/bedding. You can just sniff it from the bottle or diffuse it in a diffuser. You can apply it to your temples, or rub in on the bottom of your feet. You can put a few drops in your hand, rub it in, cup your hands and inhale deeply.

The lavender for me, helps me to relax enough to fall into a deep sleep.  I recommend making sure you have at least 8 hours of sleep.

Here’s a great recipe to use on your linen’s before bedtime.

Lavender Bedtime Linen Spray

Ingredients:

20 drops Lavender essential oil

1 Tbsp isopropyl alcohol (you could even use vodka or everclear)

Distilled water

4-ounce spray bottle —

Directions:

Add lavender and alcohol to spray bottle, use water to top it off

Shake and use as needed on sheets at bedtime.

Did you realize lavender can also be used to help heal a blister? Make sure the blister has no fluid underneath. Take a couple drops of lavender and put it on the blister 3 times a day. The lavender will seal the blister allowing it to heal. Did you burn your finger on that hot pan or stove? Grab your lavender.  Again just place a few drops and let the cool healing begin.

Lavender is the perfect started oil, because it so versatile. Keep one in the kitchen cabinet and one in your medicine cabinet.

Welcome to KD Essential OIls

Hello!  My name is Kris. I’m a wellness advocate for doTerra Essential oils. I want to introduce you to the world of essential oils.

I know, I hear what you might be saying.  Essential Oils are too expensive! No one uses essential oils any more, we have modern medicine for that!  Essential oils are for the “hippies”, right?

Okay, let me just say, I had all the same comments when I was introduced to essential oils.

While my husband was in seminary, I met spouses on campus who used essential oils.  They would share all kinds of information on when they used them, how they used them and why they chose to use them. I even did the silent eye roll, thinking okay, “glad that works for you”.

Let me address the big issue first, the cost of the oils.  Yes, oils can be expensive.  Depending on where you purchase your oils.  Prices vary from company to company. Keep in mind, oils fit any other purchase, you get what you pay for.  Not all oils are created equal.  Some places have additives in their oils.  Additives keeps the cost down.  Pure oils have no additive and will cost more.  Is there a difference?  Yes! I truly believe there is. I have purchased both, hence why I now use doTerra pure essential oils.

Can oils have healing properties?  Yes.  Lavender essential oil for example, is great for minor skin irritations, soothing burns, relaxation, and other benefits.

Frankincense essential oil can be used for imperfection in your skin, relaxation and even support healthy cellular functions, and I am not talking about your mobile phone.

I want to note however; these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Essential oils are another way for you to treat minor injuries or illness without human made chemicals. They can also be used to wash clothes, clean your house and add flavor to your favorite food and beverages.

Essential oils have been around for centuries. Frankincense is even mentioned in the Bible.  It was valued due to its healing properties.  It was also used as a perfume and incense.  So it’s not a “hippie” idea or new thing. Essential oils have been there, many have just forgotten about them and how to use them.

KD Essential Oils, carries only doTerra essential oils.  You can purchase them on line through my website, or contact me directly.  I can show you how you can purchase them at a discounted price, without having to become a wellness advocate.  I can also help you become a wellness advocate, the choice is yours.

I believe you will love essential oils, as much as I do.
